A brother and sister hiking in backcountry in southern Colorado got caught in an avalanche, and authorities are searching for the woman.

The avalanche happened Thursday in a remote area of Alamosa County known as the “Hour Glass,” said a spokeswoman with the Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office.
The brother walked out Friday morning and was able to call for help on a cellphone. The names and ages of the pair were not released.
