TORONTO — Chris Bosh had already been on the court for 50 minutes, had already seen leads disappear at the end of regulation and the first overtime. Digging deep, he made sure his efforts didn’t go to waste again.
Bosh had 38 points and 14 rebounds, and the Toronto Raptors beat Portland 116-109 in double overtime Sunday to hand the Trail Blazers their second loss in 19 games.
“You have to find something in you,” Bosh said. “You’re not going to have much energy but you have to get it done. You can’t run many plays. You have to keep going, get it to your guys and when the ball comes to you, you have to step up and knock down shots or get big rebounds.”
Bosh, who played 55 minutes, scored six points in the second overtime to lead Toronto to its third straight victory.
“Defensively, we had no answer for Bosh,” Portland coach Nate McMillan said.
Bosh had 40 points in Friday’s win at New York and has scored 20 or more in each of his past six games.
“He’s had the saddle on the last couple of games and we’ve been riding him,” Anthony Parker said.
Brandon Roy had a career-high 33 points for Portland, and made a 3-pointer with two seconds left in the first overtime to tie the game at 104.
Bosh drained jump shots on Toronto’s first two possessions in the second overtime, and Jose Calderon and Parker each made a pair of free throws in the final minute to help the Raptors finally seal the win.
“Scrapping is what we’ve been able to do this season, and tonight we got outscrapped,” McMillan said.
