Chinook winds will keep Denver’s weather relatively warm today, with temperatures in the 50s, but that will change tonight when snow blows into the area.

Snow should start falling in the metro area and along the Front Range tonight and forecasters with the National Weather Service expect the storm to drop between 2 to 5 inches of powder south of Denver with less than 2 inches in the north metro area and the city.

Tomorrow, get ready for a cold snap with a dramatic change in daytime temperatures compared to today. Daytime highs around Denver on Wednesday will be in the upper teens, about 30 degrees lower than today’s temperatures.

The approaching front could result in a snow and blowing snow advisory being posted in the Palmer Divide area, according to the weather service. Wednesday night will be bitterly cold in Denver, with wind chill values as low as minus 9 degrees.

Most of the Denver area snowfall will occur overnight and through the morning, tapering off before 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Thursday in Denver will be partly sunny with a high temperature of about 31 degrees.

Friday there will be a slight chance of snow – 20 percent – in Denver under partly cloudy skies with a high temperature of about 32 degrees.

In the mountains, Vail has an 80 percent chance of snow overnight and a 30 percent chance of snow on Thursday and Friday.
