Artist workshops
The YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park hosts weekend workshops throughout the winter. Subjects include photography, silk painting, basket making and bookmaking. Costs range from $29 to $175 and run from one day to multiweekend. Participants staying at the YMCA of the Rockies cabins or lodge rooms at the Estes Park Center receive discounts. Ice carving
“Rock on Ice,” a two-day event featuring ice-carving demonstrations during the day and fast-paced, high-energy ice-carving shows at night, will be Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 in the Mt. Crested Butte Town Center, at the ski base of Crested Butte Mountain Resort. The “Rock on Ice” team is made up of six world-champion and certified ice carvers. There will be après ski and tubing after the lifts close. Before the evening shows, there will be two autograph sessions where kids can have their names carved into a block of ice.
