It will be cold in Denver today with snow flurries, but a weather interlude should bring one day of relief Saturday before it’s back to cold and snow.

Denver’s high temperature today will be about 28 degrees under mostly cloud skies that pack a 40 percent chance of snow, according to the National Weather Service.

Tonight in Denver, there’s a chance for scattered snow showers before 11 p.m., and the low temperature will drop to about 5 degrees, the weather service said.

Snow accumulation in Denver should be light and likely not more than one inch.

Saturday skies in Denver should be mostly sunny, and the high temperature should climb to about 35 degrees, the weather service reports.

Clouds will roll into the Denver area Saturday night, bringing a 30 percent chance of snow on Sunday, mostly after 11 a.m. Sunday’s high temperature in Denver should be about 27 degrees.

Waves of snow and snow showers should pepper the mountains over the next several days, and portions of the northern and central mountains could receive up to 3 inches today.

The chance of significant snow in the mountains should increase Monday and Tuesday, especially in the northern and central mountains, and it could start as early as Sunday afternoon along the U.S. 40 corridor.
