RALEIGH, N.C. — John Edwards vowed Sunday to continue his quest for the Democratic presidential nomination, despite a poor showing in the Nevada caucuses.

“I got my butt kicked in Nevada,” Edwards said on the CBS news program “Face the Nation.”

But he vowed to dust himself off and continue campaigning for Saturday’s South Carolina Democratic presidential primary — the state where he was born and the site of his biggest success during his last presidential bid.

“All my life, when that has happened to me,” Edwards said, “you just got to get up and start fighting, particularly when you are fighting for the cause of your life.”
