Atlantic Hockey honors Fairchild

Air Force left wing Matt Fairchild was named the Atlantic Hockey Association player of the week on Monday.

The sophomore scored three goals Friday in Air Force’s 5-2 upset of the University of Denver. Before the Falcons’ first victory over the Pioneers since 1980, Fairchild had scored just three goals this season and six in his career. The Falcons broke a 19-game losing streak against DU. They also collected their first victory over a WCHA team since 1985 and their first win over a team ranked in the top five since 1975.
