A 19-year-old Highlands Ranch resident died in a roll-over car accident early this morning, the Colorado State Patrol said.

The victim, a passenger, was identified by the state patrol as Ryan Edward Nichols.

The driver of the car, Jordan M. Wells, 18, also of Highlands Ranch, was taken by ambulance to Littleton Adventist Hospital, the state patrol said.

Details on his condition were not available.

The state patrol said Wells was driving a 1999 Hyundai Tiburon north on Colorado Highway 85 near Sedalia at about midnight when it ran off the road for a short distance and returned to the highway. Wells overcorrected and the car ran off the road again, went up-and-down a steep embankment and rolled.

Both men were wearing seat belts.

Investigators suspect alcohol played a role in the crash, the state patrol said.
