Stock Dog Trials. Chasing a ball or a Frisbee is all well and good, but these dogs know how to work for a living. Competition starts with the cattle preliminaries and continues Saturday and Sunday with cattle finals and sheep. 8 a.m., Stockyards
National Western Draft Horse and Mule Show. Their ancestors were war horses able to carry an armored soldier into battle, and today draft horses still represent strength and power. You can see it on display starting Friday and running through the weekend. All events are ticketed. 7 p.m., Events Center
