Aurora — Police are investigating an apparent homicide at the King’s Inn at 11800 E. Colfax Ave., tonight.
Workers at the inn found the body of a woman around 5:30 p.m. in a room on the third floor, Aurora police Detective Shannon Lucy said.
The unidentified woman suffered major trauma to her upper body, but police would not specify what could have caused her death.
Investigators had not identified a suspect.
Workers at the inn were asked to check on the woman’s room after a relative of hers was unable to reach her and determined that she had not shown up to work, Lucy said.
The woman got around the area on foot and detectives were planning on interviewing people at neighborhood business to determine who might have seen her last. In addition, detectives were getting a search warrant for the room she was staying in, Lucy said.
The last time anyone had spoken to the woman was within 24 hours of her death, Lucy said.
A man staying at the inn, who declined to give his name, said he had not heard any commotion during the day before police arrived.
