Sen. Barack Obama is opening five new Colorado offices to prepare for the Feb. 5 caucuses, including Western Slope offices in Grand Junction and Telluride. David Plouffe, Obama’s national campaign manager, said Obama has been popular with Democratic voters outside the cities in early primaries and suggested that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton would not fare well in rural America. He also acknowledged Obama trails Clinton among Latino voters, an important constituency here.
