AURORA — The city is looking into creating an Intelligence Oversight Committee to ensure Aurora is tracking potential terrorist threats leading up to the Democratic National Convention in August.

The proposal by City Councilman Ryan Frazier calls for a three-member committee, including a member of the public, the city manager and city attorney.

The group would be briefed by the police chief on intelligence activities and determine whether covert operations are necessary to ensure public safety.

Frazier had support Tuesday from the city’s public safety committee and hopes to have the oversight group in place by spring.
