Denver police advise drivers to be aware of a police impersonator who has been robbing people after pulling them over with emergency lights.

At least three incidents have been reported where a man driving a white sedan with a red and blue light on the driver’s side roof has stopped drivers. On Wednesday evening, a car was pulled over near 47th Avenue and Race Street. The driver asked to see police I.D. and the suspect fled.

On Monday afternoon, a similar car pulled over a woman driver near 35th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard. He handcuffed her, then ransacked her car, stealing money and identification cards.

The same type of incident happened Jan. 18 near Fifth Avenue and Santa Fe Drive.

In all cases, the suspect was described as a white male, about 6 feet, 200 pounds, ligh- colored hair, wearing a tan work jacket and dark shirt with a police badge or logo on the left side of the shirt.

Victims are asked to drive to a police station or call 911 on their cell phones if they suspect trouble.
