ASPEN — Aspen- Pitkin County Airport officials are considering extending the runway by 800 to 1,000 feet.
The extension would allow departing planes to carry more passengers, baggage and fuel. Officials say it wouldn’t mean larger planes would use the airport.
Airport aviation director Jim Elwood said Tuesday the extension is not a done deal and probably would not be built for at least two years.
