MESA COUNTY — The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office said late Saturday that it had taken into custody two people who ran off into the snow-covered mountains after their stolen vehicle crashed.
The suspects, a man and a 15-year-old who says she’s pregnant, led Garfield County officers on a chase down Interstate 70 until the car crossed into Mesa County and later crashed.
Tracking dogs were brought in, but the search for the suspects was called off about 3 p.m. because of snowy weather.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, a female suspect called a relative, saying she had a head injury. Deputies made contact with the suspects after 7 p.m. about an eighth of a mile south of I-70.
