Getting your player ready...

Whether Colorado guard Xavier Silas gets on the floor in Wednesday’s game at Oklahoma State has not been decided, Buffaloes coach Jeff Bzdelik said.

“Players determine playing time; coaches don’t,” Bzdelik said Monday. “He will determine his playing time by the way he practices.”

Silas, a sophomore and regular starter, did not get off the bench Saturday in the Buffs’ 72-59 loss to Kansas. Silas ranks third on the team in scoring (10.2).

The loser of Wednesday’s game in Stillwater, Okla., will have the Big 12 basement to itself. Colorado (9-12 overall) and Oklahoma State (10-11) both enter the game 1-6 in conference play.

Bzdelik said the strength of the Big 12 has not surprised him. “I had both eyes open coming in. I knew this is a great basketball league when I came here.”

14ers acquire Anaheim guard.

The Colorado 14ers made their first trade in team history Monday, sending forward Terrence Crawford to Anaheim for Davin White, a 6-foot-1 guard from Cal State Northridge.

White averaged 11.6 points, 3.6 assists and 2.8 rebounds in 25 games this season with the Arsenal.
