Royalty’s sash slips easily over the shoulder of Jeanette Rojas, granddaughter of migrant workers, high school senior, aspiring lawyer and the reigning Miss Loveland Valentine.
Her duties include stamping the first cachets onto envelopes in Loveland’s signature valentine remailing program, a process Rojas says “is harder than it looks.” (She practiced to achieve a clear impression without smearing the ink or making the verse unreadable.)
“My first ones were to Afghanistan, England, Germany and other places all over the world,” she said.
“The one to Afghanistan really touched my heart because it probably was for someone in the military, like my big brother.”
