DENVER—Tyler Bozak and Rhett Rakhshani each had a goal and an assist as Denver beat Minnesota 4-1 Saturday, holding the Gophers to one goal for the fourth consecutive game one night after both teams skated to a 1-1 tie.
The No. 7 Pioneers (19-8-1, 13-6-1 WCHA) took a 3-0 lead by 12:34 of the second period on goals by Matt Glazer, Bozak and a power-play goal by Rakhshani.
The Gophers (12-13-7, 6-11-5) spoiled Denver goalie Peter Mannino’s shutout bid when David Fischer scored at 16:04 of the third period. Brian Gifford added an empty-net goal for Denver at 18:24.
Mannino finished with 30 saves, while Alex Kangas stopped 24 shots for Minnesota, which failed to capitalize on any of its five power-play opportunities while Denver was 1-for-3 with the man advantage, snapping Minnesota’s string of having killed off 18 consecutive penalties.
The Gophers fell below .500 for the first time this season.
