PUEBLO, Colo.—Prosecutors have filed charges against a high school teacher and four students after an assault that left a sophomore with a broken jaw and a few teeth knocked out.
Pueblo West physical education teacher and baseball coach Daniel R. Sanchez was charged with reckless endangerment and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. A phone listing for Sanchez could not be found.
Prosecutors didn’t identify the students and their charges.
The assault happened in December.
Court documents and sheriff’s records say the charges stem from allegations that the students wanted to retaliate against the sophomore because they thought he had been harassing a freshman.
Sanchez is on paid leave.
