Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper told the 400 or so attending the third annual Faith Based Initiative to End Homelessness Luncheon on Wednesday that this year’s goal is to sign up 100 more congregations to mentor home-seeking families and seniors.
Since September 2005, the initiative, coordinated by the Denver Rescue Mission, has enlisted 1,500 volunteers and 184 congregations — churches, mosques and synagogues. They have helped place 342 families.
