A bill to regulate Internet auction sales of items commonly stolen and resold — known as “e-fencing” — was effectively killed Wednesday when a legislative committee voted to table it.
The bill proposed by Rep. Alice Borodkin, D-Denver, would have required auction sites such as eBay to track sales of baby formula, gift cards, nonprescription drugs and cosmetics to ensure they were not stolen items.
The House Judiciary Committee voted 10-1 to postpone it indefinitely.
