
Saturday. If every picture is worth 1,000 words, the Denver Art Museum has a whole library. That’s why the museum celebrates the art of storytelling with its “Once Upon a Time” family day. A month ago, Broomfield’s aspiring performers signed up and now Saturday is their time to shine at “Marvelous Musicales.” This community talent show features short pieces by locals of all ages and in all categories. Don’t worry about endless renditions of “My Heart Will Go On” — a ban on karaoke accompaniment will keep the show from turning into “American Idol.” 4 p.m. Saturday. Saturday-Thursday. Jfferson County’s open spaces are the place to be for nature lovers this week. On Saturday, walk along Bear Creek and learn about ptarmigan and blue grouse, two of Colorado’s year-round bird species. These little survivalists find clever ways to get through tough mountain winters. 10 a.m. Saturday at Lair o’ the Bear Park, about 4 miles west of Morrison on Colorado 74. Then, on Thursday, bring your yoga mat to Lookout Mountain Nature Center for Full Moon, Snow Moon Yoga. Teens and adults are invited to practice in front of a spectacular view of the rising moon. 6 p.m. Saturday. Saturday. Little ones who love to sing can belt it out at Swallow Hill Music Association when the music school hosts a monthly sing-along. Tuesday-Thursday. See how our differences make us special, courtesy of a couple of friendly amphibians, in the Arvada Center’s new show, “A Year With Frog and Toad.” The musical follows cheerful Frog and grumpy Toad as they hop through the seasons, enjoying the weather and learning about friendship. But this is no ordinary kids show: “Frog and Toad” was nominated for three Tony Awards, including best musical, after its Broadway debut in 2003.
