DENTON, Texas — Quincy Williams had game highs of 17 points and nine rebounds to lead North Texas over Denver 62-48 on Thursday night.
Ben Bell added 10 points for the Mean Green (15-9, 6-7 Sun Belt).
Joe Jackson scored 13 points and was the lone player in double figures for the Pioneers (11-13, 7-6). Jackson’s three rebounds tied for team high.
The Mean Green used a 16-2 run midway through the first half to take a 33-18 halftime lead. Adam McCoy scored all seven of his points during the run with a dunk, 3-pointer and fast-break layup.
North Texas led by as many as 23 points in the second half, including a 60-37 lead before Denver ended the game on an 11-2 run.
North Texas scored 38 points in the paint to only 18 for Denver, and won the rebounding battle 33-16.

DENTON, Texas — Amber Jackson and Talicia Sanders each scored six points in a 14-2 second-half run that gave the Mean Green (12-13, 7-6 Sun Belt) a lead that Denver would never seriously threaten.
The Pioneers (9-15, 4-9) managed only 16 field goals for the game, seven in the second half. Nnenna Aktoabi had six of the makes and led DU with 18 points.
