COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A jury has convicted 32-year-old Jereme Alexander Lamberth of second-degree murder in the shooting death of policeman Jared Jensen.

Prosecutors has sought the death penalty in the case, but the jury capped his sentence at 48 years in prison. Jurors deliberated for eight days.

Lamberth shot Jensen in the face with a .44-caliber Magnum revolver at a bus stop west of Memorial park. The plainclothes’ detective was attempting to arrest Lamberth on a warrant for the attempted murder of his sister.
