GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A “transmission event” is being blamed for a massive power outage in the Grand Valley that left some 46,000 customers without electricity.
The power went out at 2 a.m. Friday, but was back on by 2:13 a.m.
Xcel (ehks-SEHL’) Energy spokesman Mark Stutz says it was some kind of transmission event that darkened the entire Grand Valley, affecting customers in Grand Junction, Clifton, Fruita (FROO’-tuh) and Orchard Mesa.
The reason for the outage is under investigation.
