The lead changed four times, with four ties, before ULM went on a 10-2 run in the final seven minutes of the first half to take a 27-21 halftime lead.
DU freshman Rob Lewis scored eight straight points to start a 15-0 run that put the Pioneers ahead 38-33 with just over eight minutes left.
But Hooper had eight points in ULM’s 13-1 response.
Lewis led Denver with 21 points and nine rebounds and Nate Rohnert added 13 points.

LAKEWOOD – Jeremy Cruise scored a team-high 19 points to lead five players with 10 or more points for Kearney. Brian Stamer had game highs with 26 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Cougars.
