Legislation that would tap a state fund to pump $500 million into school construction passed the House Education Committee unanimously Monday. With matching funds from school districts, the plan could mean as much as $1 billion in construction projects for schools. House Bill 1335 is sponsored by House Speaker Andrew Romanoff and Senate President Peter Groff, both Denver Democrats.

Easing CSAP scores

The House sent legislation to the Senate on Monday that would remove the negative score marked against schools when students don’t take the CSAP test. House Bill 1186 from Rep. Judy Solano, D-Brighton, passed 53-11.

Doug Bruce replaced on committee

House Minority Leader Mike May, R-Parker, appointed Republican Rep. Tom Massey, Poncha Springs, to the House State, Veterans & Military Affairs Committee, replacing Rep. Douglas Bruce, R-Colorado Springs.

Senate backs ticket-sales bill

The Senate gave final backing to a proposal to make it a misdemeanor to trick online ticket sites into selling more than the maximum number of tickets. Senate Bill 77 was proposed partly in response to problems with the Colorado Rockies’ World Series ticket sales.
