The Colorado 14ers won their fourth straight game Tuesday afternoon, battling back from a 12-point deficit to beat the Rio Grande Valley Vipers 138-131 in double overtime at the Broomfield Event Center.

Damien Lolar made a 3-pointer with 21 seconds left in the first overtime to force the second. Brian Greene’s 3-pointer with 1:36 left in the second OT put the 14ers ahead to stay. Elton Brown had 30 points.

Former CSU assistant hired at Rice.

Former Colorado State offensive coordinator Dan Hammerschmidt has joined the Rice staff as the receivers coach. Hammerschmidt was offensive coordinator since 2001.

Eagles win.

The Colorado Eagles got seven points from their third line of Les Borsheim, Steve Haddon and Fraser Filipic and defeated the host Tulsa Oilers 6-4 in Central Hockey League game.

The Loveland-based Eagles are within two points of Northwest Division leader Rocky Mountain.
