MEXICO CITY — A moderate earthquake shook northwestern Mexico near the U.S. border Tuesday. No major damage or injuries were immediately reported.

The quake struck about 2:40 p.m. local time and had a magnitude of 5.0, according to the U.S. Geological Survey in Golden. It was centered 15 miles southeast of Mexicali.

Three other moderate temblors with magnitudes of 5.4, 5.1 and 5.0 have rattled the area in the past two weeks, causing blackouts.
