FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Jury selection is getting under way in Fort Collins for the murder trial of a woman accused of killing her ex-lover’s wife.

Shawna Nelson is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting of Heather Garraus. Nelson faces life in prison without parole if she’s convicted.

Authorities say Garraus’ husband had ended a long-term affair with Nelson the month before. The relationship produced a son.

Attorneys for both sides will start reviewing potential jurors on Tuesday.

Police say a masked woman confronted Garraus as she was leaving work in Greeley last year, ordered her to her knees and shot her twice in the head.

Nelson has denied any involvement.

The trial has been moved to Fort Collins.
