ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Albuquerque Tribune, the city’s afternoon newspaper, is closing and will publish its last edition Saturday.

Editor Phill Casaus said the newspaper’s 38 editorial employees were told of the decision during a staff meeting Wednesday morning.

The E.W. Scripps Co., owner of the Rocky Mountain News, put The Tribune up for sale in August, but said it would shut the paper down if a buyer was not found.
