LOS ANGELES — A state appellate court has upheld the renewal of a $33.5 million civil judgment against O.J. Simpson.

The 2nd District Court of Appeal on Wednesday rejected an argument by Simpson that Los Angeles Superior Court no longer has jurisdiction over him because he now lives in Florida.

A civil jury in 1997 found Simpson liable for the 1994 stabbing deaths of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman at Nicole Simpson’s Brentwood home. Simpson was acquitted of murder charges in 1995.

Goldman’s father, Fred, filed a renewal in October 2006 because Simpson has refused to pay the judgment. The judgment has grown to about $40 million with interest but it would have automatically expired March 10.
