A man impersonating a police officer pulled over a female motorist early Tuesday in Adams County in an incident mirroring situations along the Front Range in recent weeks.

The woman, who smelled alcohol on the police-impersonator’s breath, escaped the situation unharmed, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident happened at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday near East 96th Avenue and Monaco Street, said Sgt. Candi Baker of the sheriff’s office.

The police impersonator used a flashing blue light to pull the woman over. He then asked for her driver’s license, but the woman told investigators she smelled alcohol on his breath, became suspicious and drove off.

On Tuesday, a 20-year-old Denver man was arrested in Loveland on suspicion of impersonating a police officer and other possible charges after he handcuffed an underage girl, put her in the back of his car and drove off.

Loveland police identified that suspect as Jeremi Blake and are investigating whether he may be involved in other reported impersonations in the area.

In Colorado Springs, police have alerted the public about an imposter, or imposters, who are pulling over drivers on Interstate 25.

Springs police say they’ve received several reports of drivers of unmarked cars with red and blue lights on the front pulling over drivers. One impersonator asked a female driver for sexual favors in exchange for not issuing a summons, Colorado Springs police said.

The impostors’ vehicles in Colorado Springs include a blue four-door sedan and a silver sport-utility vehicle, police said.

In Adams County, the suspect’s vehicle was described as a white, four-door sedan with no visible police markings. The blue light used to stop the victim appeared to be a “bubble” light placed on the dashboard, Baker said.

The Adams County suspect is described as a white or Latino man, about 26-years-old, 5-foot-8 and 180 pounds. He was clean shaven with a brown crew-cut hairstyle. The imposter was wearing a light-colored shirt under blue overalls at the time of the incident, Baker said.

Anyone with information on the Adams County incident or similar incidents is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 720-322-1313.
