University of Denver junior defenseman J.P. Testwuide has been suspended for Friday’s game against Alaska-Anchorage, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced Wednesday.

The league also increased the one-game suspension of North Dakota’s Kyle Radke to two games. Radke fought Testwuide and DU’s Brandon Vossberg in Saturday’s game in Grand Forks, N.D.

Testwuide and Radke took off their gloves and tried to fight in the second period, but it was quickly broken up. Referee Marco Hunt allowed both to remain in the game, and then Radke got into a full-fledged fight with Vossberg after the second-period buzzer.

“I don’t think this activity belongs in college hockey,” DU coach George Gwozdecky said. “Hopefully this supplemental discipline will make us think twice about getting involved in this.”

Typically, NCAA players who drop their gloves and throw a punch are immediately disqualified and suspended for the next game. Vossberg and Radke were given DQs and one-game suspensions.

“I actually told him, ‘I don’t think you want to do this; you’re going to get suspended.’ And he didn’t respond to anything, just kept tugging away,” Vossberg said. “And I said, ‘Are you sure about this?’ And he kept pulling and then started swinging.”
