GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. — Former Denver Broncos wide receiver Vance Johnson has surrendered to Rifle police after allegedly failing to appear for a court hearing in a bad-check case.

Johnson was accused of writing two bad checks in Larimer County in 2001. He was supposed to appear at a related hearing February 8th, but Garfield County jail records indicate a warrant for his arrest was issued when he didn’t show.

Johnson was booked into the jail at 5:41 p.m. Wednesday, and released 17 minutes later after posting a $7,500 bond.

Johnson played for Denver in the 1980s and 90s.

He now owns and operates a Parachute restaurant.
