Two RTD light-rail stations that were shut down today may not be up and running in time for Friday’s morning commute, transportation officials said.
“It’s iffy as to whether it’s going to be open,” by Friday morning, said Regional Transportation District spokesman Scott Reed.
“They’ll be working on it through the night, but a lot depends on the weather,” he said.
Reed noted that, as of late this afternoon, forecasters were predicting light snow overnight, which could hamper repairs.
A section of the rail power line failed at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Reed said, leaving the Lincoln and County Line stops serving the E, F and G lines without light-rail service.
Commuters from those stations are being bused to the Dry Creek station, where light-rail service is operating normally.
RTD said an overhead power line that directly serves the trains snapped, probably because an insulator on the power line broke.
