Xcel Energy today announced that it is seeking bids for up to 150 megawatts of new wind power generation.

The company wants the plant to be running by 2012.

Proposals are due by than April 11. More information will be available at under the “Energy RFPs” section.

Xcel said in November that it wants to add 800 megawatts of wind generation by 2015 as part of its latest resource acquisition plan.

Xcel provides power to about 70 percent of Colorado residents.
