EDMONTON, ALBERTA — Avalanche captain Joe Sakic is likely to make his return to the lineup tonight against the Edmonton Oilers, a team official said.
Sakic will take part in the pregame warm-up, where a final determination will be made. But Avs vice president Jean Martineau said Sakic is “likely to play.” If he does, it will be the future Hall of Famer’s first game since Nov. 30. He has been sidelined following hernia surgery.
Saturday, after participating in practice, Sakic said one good thing about his absence is “I’m not tired, I know that.” Sakic also hinted that he will want to play beyond this season, but won’t decide for sure until the summer.
