Norwegian snowboarding legend Terje Haakonsen, 33, after catching an edge and falling off a chairlift in Japan in December. Haakonsen, best known for boycotting his sport’s Olympic debut in 1998, hosted his annual Arctic Challenge event in Oslo last weekend. Kevin Pearce of Vermont won the quarterpipe competition while Haakonsen, who set a world record for the highest jump on a snowboard (32 feet) last year, finished fourth.
