DEKALB, Ill. — Students headed back to class Monday at Northern Illinois University, where crime-scene tape still marked the auditorium where 11 days earlier a gunman pumped bullets and buckshot into a crowded classroom, killing five students, then committed suicide.
“You’ve got to move on,” said Jonathan Brock, 25, an industrial management student.
One after another, students said they were happy to be back at classes.
“That’s not going to define my college experience, one day out of the three years I’ve been here,” said Dan Beno, 20, a junior from Beach Park.
