CHEYENNE — El Paso Corp., the largest transporter of natural gas in North America, presented plans Wednesday for a pipeline that will carry natural gas from producers in the Rocky Mountains to the high-demand market of northern California.
The company laid out the $2 billion Ruby Pipeline project at a meeting of the Wyoming House’s Minerals, Business and Economic Development Committee. Pending approvals, El Paso plans to start construction in 2010 on the line.
Brian Jeffries, executive director of the Wyoming Pipeline Authority, said the project will likely mean higher prices for Wyoming natural gas after two years of depression.
