Aspen/Snowmass athletes Kiffor Berg and Kate Cardamone took first place in the ski portion of the 2008 Stihl Colorado Freeride Championships on Saturday at Snowmass, while Riley Gessele and Shannon Yates of Salt Lake City captured the male and female snowboard titles.
More than 120 competitors took part in the seventh annual event on the steep faces of the Hanging Valley Headwall and Burn Side Cliffs.
Jen Allen of Boulder was second among women’s skiers, and Frank Shine of Aspen was fourth among the men. Dave Watson of Snowmass and Wallace Westfeldt of Aspen represented in second and third, respectively, among men’s snowboarders.
Natalie Nevins of Aspen placed third in the women’s snowboard division.
