PITTSBURGH — Ben Roethlisberger signed an eight-year extension Monday with the Pittsburgh Steelers that is worth $102 million and makes him one of the NFL’s top-paid players.
Roethlisberger’s contract guarantees him $36 million and is easily the largest in the Steelers’ 76-season history. The quarterback, who turned 26 on Sunday, gets $25 million as a signing bonus.
Roethlisberger, who threw 32 touchdown passes with only 11 interceptions last season, said he wants to be “like the Dan Marinos, like the John Elways, guys who played with one team their whole career.”
The Steelers also signed Mewelde Moore from the Minnesota Vikings as a potential third-down running back.
