After a snowy commute this morning in Denver, drivers could face a repeat going home.
Denver awoke this morning to a wintry blast, with snow falling, some areas with icy and snow-packed roads, and the sun nowhere in sight.
The sun has been trying to fight through cloudy skies, but snow showers have been persistent, and snowfall could pick up again this afternoon, the National Weather Service said.
Roads in Denver this morning were mostly wet and slick.
Today’s high temperature in Denver should be about 30 degrees. The city has an 80 percent chance of snow today and could receive up to 3 inches.
Heavier totals could be recorded west and south of the city.
In the high country, some areas of the north- and central mountains received up to 5 inches of snow overnight. A light snow should continue in some mountain areas today and pick up this afternoon, the weather service said.
There will be a 20 percent chance of snow tonight in Denver with a low temperature of about 17 degrees.
A secondary snow surge is expected to push through Denver tonight.
A slight chance of snow — 10 percent — remains in Denver’s forecast Thursday, according to the weather service. It will be mostly cloudy with a high temperature near 39 degrees.
