I have black tile with gray grout in my kitchen. About three years ago, I put a grout sealer over it. The black tile gets dirty easily, but it’s also easy to clean. I have problems with the grout. Do you have any suggestions?

Sanded and nonsanded grout will stain from everyday use — from food in the kitchen to mildew in the bathroom shower. Prevent the hassle of grout stain by purchasing a stain resistant grout, like Laticrete’s SpectraLock product.

If the stain is already in place, first try a gentle cleanser like Mr. Clean or Lysol. If that doesn’t work, our showroom recommends Miracle Sealants Grout Cleaner for tough, hard-to-clean stains.

Remember not to use bleach on colored grout as it has the potential to leach the grout color. Test your grout cleaner on a small, inconspicuous area first to make sure it won’t erode or damage the grout. This is especially important if your grout is old or damaged.

We also recommend using a stiff brush for additional scrubbing. Old toothbrushes will be too soft and metal brushes may wear away the grout, so find something in the middle. Finally, if your grout is discolored, we recommend Miracle Sealants Grout Color Kit to renew or change the grout color.

Periodically seal the grout to prevent future stains. We recommend Miracle Sealants Grout Sealer.
