DENVER—Transit officials say they plan to run all-day service between Denver and Boulder as part of a planned FasTracks project, calling an announcement that service would not run at midday a mistake.

The service, which is being studied, would share rails with Burlington Northern Santa Fe. Regional Transportation District staff believed that service would need to be halted between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. as the railroad serviced its vehicles and rails. RTD said BNSF is working on its schedule.

The cost for the 41-mile Northwest train, which would include service to Longmont, already has jumped to $684 million from an estimate of $565 million in 2004 when voters approved the FasTracks project. The cost of the entire FasTracks program, which includes six new train lines, has ballooned to $6.1 billion from the original $4.7 billion.
