A woman rescued by firefighters from the second story of her burning home has since died of injuries from the fire.

The woman, who is not being identified by authorities, was rescued by the Arvada Fire Protection District during an early morning fire Feb. 27 at her home, 6841 Lamar St., the district said.

The woman was taken to St. Anthony Central Hospital to be treated for injuries, said Scott Pribble, an a district spokesman, in a press release. She died on Saturday.

The morning of the fire the district received several 911 calls reporting the blaze, Pribble said.

When firefighters arrived they found smoke and flames streaming from the rear of the home and a woman leaning out a front window in need of help.

A detached garage at the rear of the home also sustained fire and heat damage, Pribble said.

Thirty firefighters with 10 firefighting vehicles responded to the fire. Two firefighters were transported to Lutheran Medical Center with minor injuries, treated and released.

The Arvada Fire Marshal’s office has determined that the fire was “accidental,” caused by an abandoned heat source on the home’s deck.
