Cookie Magazine and Beaver Creek have hung together a heckuva weekend of family fun that swirls around a 3 p.m. Thursday screening of “Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium,” a 6:30 p.m. Friday concert by Dan Zanes, above, & Friends, and the Chicago Children’s Choir, performing Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Come early or stay late for the S’moregasbord, 3-5 p.m. daily at the Park Hyatt Fire Pit. Can’t make it up the hill? Zanes plays again Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Boulder Theater.

Calling all hands

You hike the Farmers Highline Canal Trail, now you can help green it up. The city of Northglenn needs 100 volunteers to help spruce work on the canal trail and other segments of the city’s greenway. Call the volunteer hotline today — 303-254-7608 — to let them know you’re coming. Volunteers of all ages are welcome — and everyone who signs up gets lunch when the work is done.

A stitch in our time

Quilters from The Piecemakers and Quilt Explorations express a modern view of icons of the West in this exhibition of 65 works, each of which tells a story of the American West. Artists displaying 2-foot squares include Carol Watkins, Jaime Bolane, Gay Lasher and Gretchen Hill. The show opens with a 7 p.m. March 21 reception and includes workshops every weekend.
