A three-year absence is enough, the Arthritis Foundation has decided, and so on April 17 it re-enters the gala scene by staging An Evening of Honors at the Marriott City Center.

And to ensure success, the agency’s new CEO, Pat Gottfried, chairman of the board Stuart Kassan and members of the foundation staff made sure some big names were connected to it.

The planning committee is headed by Saunders Construction chief Dick Saunders; his girlfriend, Junior League sustainer Jeanne Portmann; Steve Edmonds, executive director of the Institute for Children’s Mental Disorders; businesswomen Lori Marks-Connors and Jan Rice, and Kassan, a rheumatologist. The honorees will be longtime board members Carl and Lisa Williams and 9News morning anchor Gregg Moss, who suffers from a rare form of arthritis.

Entertainment will be by comedian Steve Bridges, known for his dead-on impressions of President George W. Bush.

Tickets start at $250 and can be reserved by calling 303-756-8622.
