A Highlands Ranch mother has been arrested on suspicion of prostitution after authorities received complaints that prostitution might be occurring at her home.

The suspect, Sheri Sims, 39, lives in the 10000 block of South Cedaridge Court, said Deputy Cocha Heyden, spokeswoman for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

The home is near ThunderRidge High School.

An undercover investigator made contact “with the business owner” and was able to set up a meeting at the home, where he was allegedly solicited for prostitution, the sheriff’s office said.

When Sims was arrested Thursday, two of her three children present in the home were under age 18, investigators said.

Sims was arrested for investigation of one count of prostitution and two counts of child abuse, all misdemeanors.

Sims, who is free on bail, told television station KDVR she operates three businesses out of her house — wedding and event planning, manicures and pedicures, and she’s a licensed massage therapist.

“There’s nothing illegal going on in my house,” she told the station. “As far as I’m concerned, I’m a single parent taking care of three kids.”

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
